On The Steps Of The Courthouse

On the steps of the courthouse I lay
Waiting to see what the judge has to say.

On the steps of the courthouse is where I’ll be,
I told the judge that’s where he’ll find me and he said,
“Son, I believe in happy endings.”

On the steps of the courthouse I stand
Holding the judge by the hand.

On the steps of the courthouse is where I’ll stay
Waiting to see what the judge has to say.

On the steps of the courthouse I confess,
“It wasn’t me,”
To the members of the press and my family.

“I believe in happy endings. I believe in the rule of law.”
