the vertex figure of a regular hexagonal tile, such as the ones I’ve been fascinated with at both the Poor Historian and the kcmo apartment bathrooms, is 6.6.6. the vertex of these tiles, when extended into the third dimension, is a pyramid. this tile pattern can be topologically approximated with rectangular stretcher brick squares (masonry, mason green owner of b. pig, who was the son of a mason and found a mason seal in a field which I identified as such) totaling 42 bricks. 42 is the number in kabbalah that god used to make the universe, and is the number in egyptian thought of the ma’at. lewis carroll also used it a bunch, as does alex is clockwork orange, dr. who, etc
