I was in a bookstore looking at two books, which were written in a bullet point style I wasn’t expecting and didn’t like. I forget the first one, but the second on was by Foucault and seemed to combine the concepts of objet petit a and alpha as used in set theory to distinguish a certain type of person from another. There were stupid line drawings of these people. I rolled my wheelchair to the escalator – I was in a wheelchair because I couldn’t walk very well – and went down the escalator, thinking that usually people in wheelchairs take the elevator. I was rolling fast down the escalator when a man at the bottom, who seemed about to take the escalator I was on, decided against it and I was like “no, go ahead,” but then I realized it was a down escalator and he wanted to go up.
